Student Data Privacy
CES STUDENT DATA PRIVACY NOTIFICATION TO PARENTS
WE BELIEVE it is vital for all students in the CES school programs to be able to efficiently and effectively use digital tools that empower them in all phases of the learning process, including research, problem-solving, content-creation, communication, and collaboration. We also believe we must be committed at all times to protect students' privacy and provide them with a powerful and safe educational experience. To that end, CES follows the legal requirements to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff while using any technology resource or outside contractor. We review privacy policies and terms of service regularly to ensure that each resource conforms with legal requirements & guidelines. In the event of a data breach, CES will notify parents via email and post information on this web page. Please do not hesitate to contact CES Associate Executive Director Christopher LaBelle at 203-365-8831 or Director of Finance & Operations Peggy Sullivan at 203-365-8827 if you have any questions.
Ever have questions about your rights regarding education records? This short U.S. Department of Education video highlights the key points of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Following Gov. Lamont’s Executive Order 7I, allowing flexibility relating to the Student Data Privacy Act, and Commissioner Cardona’s guidance, CES is using educational technology from companies that have provided digital assurances that they comply with Connecticut’s law and have signed the Connecticut Student Data Privacy Pledge. A list of these software providers is located on the Connecticut Educational Software Hub. The programs may be used district-wide, in a small number of classrooms, or with individual students. The list will be updated each time the district enters into a new contract where student data is housed.
