Regional Educational Service Center
C.E.S. is one of the six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs) in Connecticut and is a member of the RESC Alliance. RESCs were created more than 50 years ago to help neighboring school districts communicate and collaborate. Through RESCs, districts and communities have access to high-quality, cost-effective, collaborative programs and initiatives.

The Director of Special Education is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and oversight of all assigned programs and services within the division. This role includes supervising and evaluating staff, managing division budgets, collaborating with local education agencies and community partners, supporting curriculum and program development, and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
The deadline to apply is June 10, 2026.
Qualified candidates must hold a Connecticut Intermediate Administrator Certificate (092) along with one of the following endorsements: 061, 065, 068, 070, 071, 165, or 265. Candidates must also have a minimum of three years of relevant administrative experience in the assigned area. Preference will be given to candidates with additional administrative experience and a Sixth Year degree in Administration and Supervision. The Director also serves as a representative of C.E.S. at statewide RESC Directors of Special Education meetings and actively participates in regional and agency initiatives that support special education programs and services.
Key responsibilities include but not limited too:
- Providing leadership in program and curriculum planning
- Supervising administrative, professional, and support staff
- Managing division budgets and staffing assignments
- Supporting professional development and staff evaluation
- Collaborating with districts, families, and community stakeholders
- Monitoring program implementation and student individualized education plans
- Promoting continuous improvement and new business opportunities
- Ensuring safe, effective, and compliant learning environments
